[Opinions] Savannah?
My husband loves this name and it is growing on me. It seems so long to me...what does everyone think of an alternative spelling like: Savanna or Savanah? I know, one letter less. I also hate for her to have the nickname of "Vannah", any ideas for a NN?
I am thinking Savannah Hope

or Savannah Mekaya (after mom combining Mary and Kay)I like this one.

I just thought of Savannah Rose and think that sounds pretty. Thanks for the comments, except for the negatives of course:-)

Savannah is an actual word, a grassy plain. I don't like creative spellings of traditional names and I hate misspelled words even more.Afterall, how is she supposed to get the message to do well in school and spell words correctly, when her own parents misspelled the word "savannah?" That said, Savannah Hope has a nice flow, but I tend to dislike two nouns together. It sounds like a soap opera set in Georgia or an animal planet show. How about:Savannah Claire
Savannah Jane
Savannah Lucy
Savannah Kay / Kate
Savannah Chloe
Savannah Britt (variant of Bridget)
Savannah Lauren / LaurieI wouldn't worry about the length of the name. The nn might not be easy to control. The only viable alternative that I can think of is Annie.

Mary and KayI'm sorry. I missed the last sentence of your original post about Mary and Kay. In a sea of Brittneighs, Maddisyns and K8tlins, Mary and Kay are a breath of fresh air. I know they were overly used in the past, but everyone is running away from names like these so fast that they are actually unique in this newest generation. If you just can't see yourself using Mary or Kay, how about a variant:Maura / Moira / Maureen / Molly
Maren
Marie (nn Mimi?)
Mae
Marian / Marianne
Marisol (Mary + sun)
Miriam (nn Miri, Mimi or Mim?)
Mariska
Marina (nn Marnie?)
Mariah
Maria (nn Mia, Mitzi?)
MiaKatrina
Catriona ("ca-TREE-uh-na" or "ca-TREE-na")
Catalina
Kathleen / Cathleen
Katherine (nn Kat, Kit, Kitty or Kay?)
Katrin
Kateri ("KAH-ter-ee")
Ekaterina (nn Katia / Katya)
Kaia ("KIE-uh")
I could see you with a little Mia Katherine or a Kaia Marie. :-)

I don't care much for Savannah. I don't like the way it looks or sounds. Also, there's something about it I can't help but find very faux-natural and tryndee which makes it seem disposbale to me.I don't really like either one of the combos you suggested either. Savannah and Hope have been somehwat trendy during the past few years which makes Savannah Hope seem too fashionable (which will inevitably make it become outdated in a decade or two, since fashions fade). Mekaya seems very, very unintellectual and made-up.
