WDYTO this name? It's OK, not a favorite, but not bad. Will it age well? I think so.Are there any nasty nicknames that I should be aware of? (Besides the obvious marijuana.) I can think of is Mar or MarMar.WDYTO these combos:Mara Joan Doesn't flow the best, but fine nevertheless.
Mara Johanna Even though I don't like the double 'a' ending, this is a rather pretty combo.
Mara Margaret Flow quite off, because of the double Ms.(All mn's are family names.)And do you prefer Mara or Marie? Hmm, probably if I had to choose, I'd go with Marie (or Maria).

Mara over Marie any day of the week.I'm looking at Mara for a mn for a child, even though it's similar to my name.
It ages very well. I can see it on a small child, a 30-year-old, and a cheerful old lady who likes to work in her garden and talk to kids and bake cookies. I'm hungry...
Mara Margaret is a mouthful, don't like.
Mara Joan is plain, but all right. How about Mara Joanne?
Mara Johanna is nice, but I prefer Joanne.

Revision: I'm talking mn's here...I like Marie a lot for a mn. I just don't like it for a fn at all for some reason...

I like the sound of Mara very much and have considered Tamara (nn Mara). OTOH, the meaning of Mara isn't as pleasing.Of your combos, I like Mara Johanna best. Mara will age just fine.I like Marie too. One of my dds has a friend named Marie. It seems so fresh on a young one. Between the two, I'd have to go with Marie.

Mara is a nice name and I think that the name would age well. It works well for both children and adults. Personally, the only Maras who I have met or heard about have all pronounced their name MAR-a rather than MAIR-a (rhyming with Sarah). I prefer MAR-a to MAIR-a myself. Mara Johanna, Mara Joan, and Mara Margaret are nms. How about Mara Joanne, Mara Elise, or Mara Elizabeth / Elisabeth?BTW I love the name Marie as a first name, but it seems bland since it's so overused as a middle name. I would go with Mara.

WDYTO this name? I love the name but I do prefer Marah
Will it age well? I think it ages well
Are there any nasty nicknames that I should be aware of? the only thing I would avoid is name the child Mara Juana. Other than that I can't think any others.
WDYTO these combos: Mara Joan
Mara Johanna
Mara Margaret(All mn's are family names.)
I prefer Marah Johanna And do you prefer Mara or Marie?
I love Marah as either a first or middle name but Marie is strictly a middle name for meSamantha

I absolutely love Mara; I hate the meaning though :(
I think it could age very well.
Mara Johanna is lovely. A combo that I have is Mara Evelyn, btw.
I prefer Mara to Marie.
Just a dream, just an ordinary dream...
as I wake in bed...
and the boy, that boy, that ordinary boy
or was it all in my head?
Did he ask if I would come along?
It all seemed so real.
But as I looked to the door
I saw that boy looking there with a deal.

I personally don't like the name Mara. I've never met a Mara that I liked. There aren't any mean names for it as far as I know.Out of those combos, I like Mara Joan the best. I prefer Marie. It seems more sophisticated imo.

I like it as long as it's pronounced MAHR-a, not MAYR-a. I also like Marra with the 'MAHR-a' pronunciation as well.As far as aging well, I think so, at least IMO. I can definitely picture it on a little girl and I can also picture a grown woman taking care of her family as well. Both seem to have brown hair in my mind when I think of the name.Mara Joan - Short names are good and simple, but this combo is a bit plain [my FN and MN are both 1 syllable each and it's really plain, but at the same time I also really like it]Mara Johanna - This one is nice [if Johanna is pronounced jo-HAHN-nah], but the A endings are a bit repetitive; overall this would be my favoriteMara Margaret - Too MarMar-y, but otherwise it's kinda cute-soundingMara vs Marie: Definitely Mara!ETA:
Some suggestions:Mara Evelyn
Mara Nicole
Mara Taylor
Mara Katherine
Mara Michelle
Mara Madeline
Mara Danielle
Mara Jacqueline

Hmm. Mara. I can't think of any dodgy nns.Mara Margaret is too many m's.
Mara Joan feels like it needs another syllable.
Mara Johanna is too rhymey (both ending in 'ah' sound). Some suggestions?Mara Eleanor?
Mara Faith?
Mara Emily?
Mara Edith?
Mara Christine?
Mara Felicity?Out of those id probably say Mara Emily is the nicest.
