[Opinions] Cara...WDYT?
WDYTO this name?
Which pronunciation do you prefer?
Do you prefer Cara on it's own or as a nn for Caroline or Carolyn?
Any combo suggestions?
TYSMIA!
Nobody sings a love song quite like you do
And nobody else can make me sing along
Nobody else can make me feel
That things are right when I know they're wrong

I like Cara very much. I had wanted to name my youngest dd Caroline and call her Cara, however, Cara works well on its own.
Re: pronunciation, I realize Cara is pronounced CAR-a in Irish ("friend") and Italian ("beloved"). Still, I had planned to call my dd CARE-a.

I think it's okay. Nothing really that I would look at as special and that stands out. But it's not bad.
I think it's really pretty, but...
...it means "face" in Spanish, which ruins it for me. However, it's got a really nice sound and a beautiful meaning. I'd use it on its own rather than as a nn.
P.S: I like pn Car-ah

Cara is beautiful...
I've always liked it. I've only heard it pronounced Care-a, but I live in the US so maybe they say it differently in other countries.
I think Cara is pretty enough to use on its own, it probably wouldn't even occur to me to use it as a nn for something else.
Here's a few mn ideas;
Cara Andrea (know somebody named this)
Cara Allison
Cara Ashley
Cara Dawn
Cara Ellen
Cara Frances
Cara Irene (if you are feeling playful, that is; Irene Cara sang the theme from Flashdance.)
Cara Jo
Cara Justine
Kara Leigh (I've seen Cara Lynn used a lot, but it strikes me as too similar to Carolyn)
Cara Michelle
Cara Melissa
Cara Noelle
Cara Paige
Cara Rose
Cara Suzanne
Cara Victoria

I love it, it has been on my list forever. I also like Kara. I much prefer the pronunciation KAIR-a, today, but I like KAR-a a lot, too, anyway. I prefer it on its own - to me, the nick for Caroline / -lyn is Carrie / Cari / Caro.
Cara Janel
Cara Rebecca

I really like it. It bounces in and out of my top 10 faves for a future DD.
I say care-ah.
I say care-ah.
Cara is my middle name...
WDYTO this name?
I like it, it is far prettier than my first name, Rachel.
Which pronunciation do you prefer?
I hate cahr-uh. cair-uh reminds me of carrots. I pronounce it ca-ruh with (using lilbabylaura101's example) the a as is 'big mac'
Do you prefer Cara on it's own or as a nn for Caroline or Carolyn?
On its own
Any combo suggestions?
Cara Michelle
Cara Simone
Cara Audrey
Cara Morgan
Cara Jasmine
Cara Georgette
Cara Sophia
Cara Gwendolyn
Cara Primrose
Cara Josephine
Cara Eleanor
Cara Vivian
I would pair it with a longer mn, tell me what you like!
Oh, and also, I must add, I have never met a Cara or a Kars in my life, but it is known, so a lovely, not common name!
This is my resting spot
I can let myself breathe
I may not be perfect
But at least I am free

Nice combos!
Wow, nice list of combos. I don't like Georgette or Primrose, but, I agree, a longer mn goes great with Cara. I especially like Cara Michelle or Cara Simone. How about Cara Marissa or Cara Danielle?
BTW, I know a wonderful lady named Cara. She has a daughter named Jonwyn (?) and she has a gorgeous singing voice. She's also very talented. She is the first person that comes to mind when I hear the name Cara.

Aww, I love Rachel! Lol, thanks so much for all the suggestions. My favorites were:
Cara Michelle
Cara Simone
Cara Georgette
Cara Sophia
Cara Gwendolyn
Cara Josephine
Cara Vivian

Cara's fine for someone else's kid, but I don't find it very attractive myself. I'd much rather it was a full name than a nickname.
