I don't think that Apollo is too much for a child at all. And I too love it! I debate over whether I would use it or not though.

The name mostly reminds me of Lee "Apollo" Adama from Battlestar Galactica. In a TV show it's okay but in real life it's a bit too much in my opinion.

No, I don't think so. Some god/goddess names like Aphrodite and Poseidon are, IMO, a little too much a child, but Apollo is just in the border. I think it's very handsome and cool.
