I don't care for Reed for a girl, but it's not unheard of and I don't think it's nearly as bad as most unisex names on girls. It's my mother's maiden name, but I prefer it as a mn for a boy. But I did know a little girl growing up, briefly, whose fn was Reed. It also brings to mind the 1990s show "Sisters" which was about 4 adult sisters. Their maiden name was Reed and one of them had a daughter named Reed, played by Ashley Judd. :)
