[Opinions] Sydney for a girl
Replies
In Miranda's Despotic World, both Sydney and Sidney would be masculine names only. However, in Real Life, I'll very grudgingly accept Sydney as the female form and Sidney as the male form--even though that makes Sydney an early "Y makes male names fymynyn, duh!" name imo.

I have always hated the way this name sounds. It's like nails on a chalkboard to me and it has a sinister association to me, I think mostly thanks to the evil neighbor kid, Sid on Toy Story. I imagine Hannibel Lector saying "Hello Sidney." Creepy. The positive association that I have, and the only way that I can see the appeal of this name, is because of Sydney, Australia.

Bleh. I find it boring. I like Sidney for a boy, but Sydney/Sidney for a girl is just one big *yawn* to me.
Originally these were both masculine forms, though it seems that the way things have developed most people in the USA at least now think of Sydney as feminine and Sidney as masculine. But I've certainly are examples of girls with the name spelled Sidney.
Though I don't really care for the name for a girl, I do think it would be better to spell it Sydney for a daughter if one is choosing it.
