[Opinions] Some Chinese names I quite like
My husband is Malaysian, ethnic Chinese. I would probably give my future child a Chinese middle name and just wanted to know your opinions on these. I know there are certain things taken into account when giving a Chinese name, the horoscope, ancestors and making the name different. These aren't that important to me (and Vince couldn't care less), what is more important is the name linking to his or her heritage and the sound of the name.
Jia Li (jee-ah lee)
Jiang Li (jee-awng lee)
Li Ming (lee ming)
Li Mei (lee may)
Lin (leen)
Mei Fen (may fen) plum fragrance
Ming Yue (ming yoo-eh) bright moon
Yue Yan (yoo-eh yahn) happy and beautiful
Sheng (sheng) sage (I think this has different meanings depending on the character used)
Yuen (yoo-en) journey
Lei (lay) thunder
For a boy we would almost certainly use Sheng because I would like to honour my very good friend.
I have included pronunciation and meaning in case they aren't in the BtN database. I'll edit and change the message if they are. Edited to do this.

I'm Chinese
I'm Chinese and my Chinese name is my middle name. My Chinese name is Han Qi, it's unisex and my mun thought it was unique. My friend has a Chinese name as a first name and an English name as a middle name! Weird I know! I like Ming Yue and Li Mei. Also if you want the Chinese name to sound less foreign, you can make it a Chinese version of an English name i.e Emily- Ai Mei.

I prefer them hyphenated, otherwise they look lika ln and fn.
Jia-Li (jee-ah lee): I like this, b/c I know a Chinese boy with this name
Li-Ming (lee ming): I know a Chinese man with this name (could be a girl's name too of course). I also like Li-Ching/Xing
Li-Mei (lee may): Very pretty, I love Mei-Li too.
Lin (leen): Is it the Lin which means "jade" or the Lin which means "forest"? Either way, it sounds good as a mn.
Mei-Fen (may fen) plum fragrance. Is it not spelt Feng?
Ming-Yue (ming yoo-eh) bright moon: Beautiful
Yue-Yan (yoo-eh yahn) happy and beautiful: I like the meaning
Sheng (sheng) sage (I think this has different meanings depending on the character used)
Yuen (yoo-en) journey: I like this, I know a boy named Guo-Yuen, it means "the first of the land" (that Yuen means "first")
- She said he made a racial slur!
- Racial? She is Swedish!
- Maybe he called her Meatball.
"I’ve given it a lot of thought, and I’ve decided to be spontaneous."

My Mum is Chinese
but I don't have a Chinese name. Well I do have a Chinese nickname, Gow Si, which means dog sh*t. My Mum bestowed that one on me when I complained to her that I didn't have a Chinese name.
My favourite out of yours is definitely Li Mei. It's lovely and I could see a little half-Chinese half-English (correct me if wrong) girl with that as her Chinese name.
Favourite Names:
Boy: Christian Adelmar Girl: Freya Amaryllis

That is pretty funny about your nn!
I like Li Mei too because it is easy to pronounce in English and it is sweet. My Dad is from Ireland and my Mum is Ukrainian, so I'm not English by heritage even though I certainly feel English. You like Ukrainian names right? My Mum is called Elena Kateryna, normally people have a mn derived from their father's fn, but my grandparents thought it was more "western" to give her two feminine names because they knew she was going to grow up in England.
