It's a realized full first name - has been for a long time now and I don't think people would automatically associate it as a "nn" at all.
Personally, I love it. I'd like to use it myself except that it's the name of my Aunt (who's now 37 and has worn it well over the years) and I don't want to play favorites when I have 12 other Aunts... It's a name that grows with the person, I think.
edit: Like Emma, for example. Good for kids and adults alike. Works both ways.
