[Opinions] Mara
I really like Mara as a first name, but is the meaning too, well, bitter? I really wish it weren't, because otherwise it's beautiful, but do you think it matters? Thanks. :)
People, in general, would rather die than forgive. It's that hard. If God said in plain language, "I'm giving you a choice, forgive or die," a lot of people would just go ahead and order their coffin.

Love it.
Despite it's meaning, I think it's gorgeous! :-)

The meaning is pretty bitter :-) but I doubt people will know that. When they hear "Mara," they'll hear "Mara," and it'll be a long shot for their next jump to be to its etymology. I say that if it doesn't bother you, meaning be damned and just enjoy its aesthetic value.

I think Mara is a beautiful name and don't think it matters that the meaning isn't the most pleasant. There are lots of names out there that don't have ideal meanings, but are to lovely not to use. One of my favorite names is Deirdre, which means sorrowing one or broken-hearted, and while I wish it had a more cheerful meaning, I would still use it because I love it so much.
True... thanks for pointing that out. :)
