[Opinions] Mabel
WDYT of the name Mabel?
Does it make you think of anything in particular?
I'm just curious, as I've become quite fond of it, lately.
To be 100% honest... I've also started to really like Maybelline. But because I've only ever seen it used on the cosmetics and a judge on daytime TV, it's reserved for characters/the guilty pleasure list.

I like Mabel because of its meaning and the letters together just look appealing to me.
I used to hate the name Mabel but since I've started liking more old-fashioned names, it's grown on me a bit. I'd love to see a baby Mabel nowadays. :b I prefer Amabel, though.
I find Maybelline as a name to be very tacky (no offense to Judge Ephriam, lol), probably because of the make up line. I dislike names like Chanel, too. :-/
Mabel actually makes me think of Paul & Jamie's baby on "Mad About You". IIRC, the name came from the acronym for Mother Always Bring Extra Love. :)

I like the name Mabel, and I think that it's one of those names that is old-fashioned in a good way (meaning that I think it would be a nice choice for a girl these days).

I love Mabel and
I like it as a second name/nickname for the name Amabel.
I wanna go to the crappy town where I'm a hero.

Reminds me of a witch

I'm not really fond of Mabel. I think Maybelle is a lot prettier. Though my absolute favourite is Maybelline, I think it is a gorgeous name. However, the cosmetic brand guarantees that any kid with this name will hear 'maybe it's Maybelline' a hundred times over.
Mabel sounds lathargic to me. I prefer names with a little spunk and attitude, particularily for girls.
Mabel sounds like an old name which is just on the cusp of being fresh again. but not quite there yet. it seems old to me but it could be cool with a good mn. actually it reminds me of a song called Marella by Perfect Thyroid.
wow, I didn't know Maybelline was a real name. as a name its not bad. but I can't stop hearing "maybe it's Maybelline."
combo idea:
Mabel Fenella

My favourite is Maybelle, for Mother Maybelle, naturally. (Maybelle Carter, that is, of the Carter family--y'know, the one who had June who married Johnny Cash? All right, we've cleared that up for the people who aren't quite so obsessed with music history, hehe.)
Mabel just doesn't do it for me, but Maybelle hits the spot. It looks prettier, it sounds prettier (I enunciate the final syllable more, when with Mabel it sounds like MAY-bl), and I have better associations with it.
And because I love names like Maybelle and Opaline, I just can't say no to Maybelline. I think it's just delightful--but remember, I'm the one who thinks "That sounds like a hick name" is a compliment. ;)
The TV judge spells her name Mablean, by the way. :(
