[Opinions] Re: Nicknames as full names?

I have mixed emotions on this one.
I guess it's okay to do, but people will definately do that with popular nn. My friend's bf is named Ted. I still wonder why his parents didn't name him Edward or Theodore.
But then again, if you're only going to call the person by their nn, why not use the nn as the name? Of course, when kids grow up, they don't always continue with their nn's because they seem childish and unprofessional (although I guess nn's are acceptable to most people in the work place - myself included). Little Evie may wish one day she could go by Evelyn and may do it anyway.
My favorite is Midge, but I'd definately use it as a nn for Margaret - my nana's name. I also like Frank or Frankie for a girl rather than Francis/Frances!
