[Opinions] Beulah
This name is completely weird, and I could never imagine it on a 21st century child, but I'm convinced it works well for a 19th century heroine. What do you think of the name Beulah - for a CHARACTER, not a person? :)

Beulah is good, imo:
- before the 20th century
- prononced the Hebrew way: "be" like in "bed" - "oo" - "la".So yeah, good for a 19th century heroine!

My great grandmother was Beulah Mae - she was born in the 19th century - I think the name was significantly more popular then than it is now (where its basically ridiculed and hated).

My grandfather's oldest sister(one of 9) and his mother was named Belah. They were from a plantation in North Carolina. They were kind of mean so I can picture it on an old bitty, but it could work for a heroine. They were born about 100 plus years ago I guess 1900. Is that the turn of the 19th century?

I think it'd work on a 17th-century Puritan ... I love a lot of those names, they're just so unusual, but wouldn't use them myself. At any rate, I like Beulah for a character.
