[Opinions] Re: Scottish names...WDYT?
in reply to a message by JMO
Ailsa (I pronounce it ELS-a. is that right?) - Elsa would have that pronunciation to me, while Ailsa would be ALE-sah, but I'm not positive I'm right. :-/ I love both Elsa and Ailsa, btw.
Bridget - Nice but not a huge favorite. I knew a Bridget that was annoying and snobby.
Catriona - Lovely but I have a cousin named Katrina and then there's the Hurricane association. :(
Elspeth - I adore this one
Isobel / Iseabail (which spelling do you prefer?) - I like Isobel, but wouldn't use with the popularity of Isabella/Isabelle.
Isla - My favorite girl's name :)
Lileas / Lilias / Lillias (is this pronounced LIL-i-ah? - I assumed LIL-ee-as (or "uhs) I prefer Lillian or Lily
Marsaili (how is it pronounced?) - Not positive on prn.
WDYT of the name Lucinda? - Lucinda has really been growing on me lately, too. I love Lucy on its own, but Lucinda seems a bit more sophisticated and classy, then she can always go by Lucy as a nn. :)
