[Opinions] Aderyn
What do you think of Aderyn? Normally, I would like it and would consider using the name, but it reminds me of medication (probably because it kind of sounds like Adderall and Ritalin combined). Are there any names that you want to like but can't because of associations or random other reasons? Some others:
Cardea - Reminds me of cardiac arrest.
Juturna - Reminds me of turnips, but it would make a nice character name.
Zephyr - Reminds me of the word 'heifer'.

I love this name. I use the Add-uh-rin pronounciation.I used the combo Siana Aderyn for a little Welsh girl in a story I was writing. Her little brother was Tristan Emrys.------------------------------------------

Aderyn is the main character in "Red bird of Ireland", a book by Sandra Gordon Langford about Ireland's struggle for independence during XIX century. She's a sweet, bright 13 year old girl, so I like his name very much because of positive associations :)

I think Aderyn is rather pretty -- do you say AD-uh-rin? AY-duh-rin?I really want to like both Griffin and Hudson, but don't. They both seem to be a half-step away from other, super-trendy names. :/-- Sarah

I've been pronouncing Aderyn AD-uh-rin. I could easily be wrong.

I love the name Griffin... at first I had mythological Celtic thougts of it, until the show Family Guy came on. Now all I can think about is Peter Griffin!

I love Family Guy. heh.More importantly, though:I prn it Ah-DUH-ryn. Reply to OP: I think of medication, too, and the DUH sound is completely unappealing. It also just looks like a trendy combination of pretty looking letters that end in an -yn sound. Yay! Yeah...Griffin I want to like as well, but when Harry Potter became popular, it seemed like every other screenname or fanfic had Griffin in it somewhere (homage to Gryffindor, I suppose. Is that how you spell it? I really don't know because I avoided the series like the plague.) As you can see, that's not a positive association for me. I think it's getting a bit trendy.Names that I want to like but just can't allow myself to would be those guilty pleasure yuppy style names. I can't help it: Logan, Spencer, Harper, Avery... Just stop me now! I would never actually use them, but they're so darn cute, and I think they could age well when paired appropriately with a good MN... sigh.

I would pronounce this name Ay-deh-rin... so it doesn't really remind me of Adderall or Ritalin. I think it's pretty.
