Help[Opinions] How do YOU pronounce Corinne?
I know the key here says Core-een(well, not exactly that spelling, but I think you get the idea.), and that's how I would pronounce it, but if you didn't know how to pronounce it, how would you pronounce it?

I always thought this was core-EEN but I know most people say ker-INN. This doesn't seem phonetic to me.

I'd make a sound sample of myself saying it, but the microphone's on the wrong computer and my mouth's all swollen anyway. ;)

Corinne is French so while I know it's pronounced co-REEN, my first instinct is to pronounce it co-RINN. When I come across someone named Corinne, I assume they're pronouncing it co-RINN as well. It's a beautiful name, though I prefer Corinna. One reason is because I think Corinna has a better chance of being pronounced the way I like it (co-REEN-a).

ka-RIN/ko-RIN. I have a notblood-cousin (no actual relation) named Corinne and everybody's always said it ka-RIN. However, if I weren't used to this pronunciation, my first instinct would be to say it ko-RIN.

I personally would pronounce it COR-een, but I know a girl pronounced cor-INN.

My family (and by default, myself) prn it as kor-IN. My parents had never seen the name spelled out, but heard it on a 70's tv show called "Soap." (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075584/) My mom actually wanted to name me Annette and my dad wanted to name me Christine (gah!) until they heard the name on tv. My mom just started playing around with various spellings, knowing that she wanted it to start with a k rather than a c b/c there was a boy named Cory at their church & she didn't want me to get nned Corie / Cory. (Although why a k makes that much difference, I don't know.) ANYWAY, I've since discovered that the character's name was Corinne Tate-Flotsky and she was adopted (like me). Weird, huh?
As a postscript, I'd like to add that in the Mid-West, there are a lot of minor variations in the prn of my name: kaw-RIN, ker-IN, kuh-RIN, kor-IN. While I've made an effort most of my life to ditch my Mid-Western/Hoosier accent and prn my name kore-in, the majority of my family actually says my name something like ker-IN or usually "krin." :o)

I'll say Corinne as "kaw-REEN" if I don't know otherwise, but I've known one (she spelt it Corine) who said "KAW-reen", with the stress on the first syllable.
Our Korrine here at BtN -- Cambria -- uses kaw-RINN if I'm not mistaken. I hadn't heard that before I came here, but now I've come across a few people who say it that way so it can't be uncommon.
So, I'd definitely have to ask a Corinne how she said her name. I think it's pretty however it's said, but the ambiguity might put me off using it for my own child. I'd love to use Corinna though, which I've only heard kaw-REEN-uh.

I've heard Corinna prn as kaw-RIN-uh, so it apparently is as ambiguous in prn as Corinne (and the various spellings). (Hope this doesn't completely turn you off from using Corinna!) People who don't automatically assume the kaw-REEN prn *always* make sure to ask me how my name is prn, which is very nice, imo. ;o)

Really? Well there goes my theory! Lol ... kaw-RINN-uh is quite pretty too in fact. I'm sure I could put up with that sometimes if my name were Corinna ;-) It is so confusing though!

Yes, it is confusing.
It's worse, though, when I meet people who *insist* on calling me cor-EEN b/c "it has an e on the end which makes the i a long vowel." I had a girl who constantly did this ask me, "Why prn it cor-IN if there's an e on the end? Shouldn't it rhyme with chlorine?" (As if I like having my name compared to a chemical!) I asked if she prn feminine as femineen and masculine as masculeen and that shut her up. ;o)
