[Opinions] Wdyt of Penny?
I really love the nn Penny, but I don't much care for Penelope. Do you think Penny could stand on its own? Should I just keep it as a name for a future dog? Do you know of any other names that could use Penny as a nn? The only one I could think of that I really like is Rupinder. It's a bit of a stretch, though. Wdyt?

It's cute enough, but nms. I like it for someone else, though. I'd be trhilled to see it pop up in birth announcements. I just wouldn't use it.
I really like Penna, though, lately. Peninah nn Penna (pr PEN-ah).

I like Penny, both on its own or as a nickname for Petronella. :) Petronella might be a bit much, but I think it's really pretty. Any other name in the same family--like Peronel, maybe--would work as easily.

My sister is Penny (not Penelope). Actually, her real name is Leona Dale and she earned the nick Penny when she was about 10 years old. You see, she'd change her allowance into pennies because it made her feel she had more money so her friends began to call her Pennies and then Penny. Anyway, she intends to change it legally one day and she loves being called Penny. It's funny, though, Penny is 15 years older than I am and yet I think she sounds younger because the name sounds so sweet and youthful.
So to answer your question, I do like Penny, but traditionalist that I am, I'd use it as a nick for Penelope. Can Penny stand on its own? That's up to the individual, I suppose.

Ooh, Peninnah is interesting! I'm not sure I like it but I'm certainly intrigued. ;-)
I go back and forth, myself.
Sometimes I think it's great, and others, I think it's too "out there." And I grew up prn it peh-NINE-uh rather than peh-NIN-uh; with the 2nd prn, I just hear "ninny." :o

If you like Penny then it can stand on it's own, after all you'd be calling her Penny anyway so its not like it matters that much! Personaly I'd keep it for the dog, I plan on naming a cat Penny, but there are a lot worse names out there. Don't like Rupinder. If you want to call her Penny, call her Penny, theres not need to find a name for it to come from.
Penny to me is not a good name, it does not sound strong or smart but its your choice. Penny sounds like a bird name
Yeah, I'm still not sure if I want to save it for a dog or use it on a child. I've had it in my mind as a dog name for so long!

It's a unit of American coins, not really an attractive baby name to me.
Rupinder is lovely, though. I love Penelope, too, though with the NN Nell.
I'm not a huge fan of picking a name specifically for a NN, though. If you like it, just use Penny.
What are the convulsions of a city in comparison with the insurrections of the soul?
Man is a depth still greater than the people.
