I personally don't like it for either gender. It's become quite popular around here in the last few years. Just too trendy for me. However I see no reason to change the spelling, it's still the same name whether you spell it Cameron or Camryn or even Kamerynne.

I wouldn't change the spelling, whether you use it for a girl or a boy. I've always thought the random Y looks weird and out of place in names, I have the same problem with Jordyn.
