[Opinions] Nicknames
I'm wondering what nicknames you hear most for younger people (babies - teens) today who have these names.Elizabeth - do any go by their full name? What nn's do you hear the most or least?Katharine/Katherine/Kathryn/Catherine - do any go by their full name? Do you ever hear the nn Kaye?Julia - it seems to be a pretty popular baby name right now....I'm wondering if a lot of Julia's will end up just going by Julie?Julianna - ?Olivia - does this name typically stay in full - no nickname? Thanks!

I'm a teen so I may be able to help you out =]Elizabeth - I know two Elizabeths. One goes by Liz, and the other goes by Lizzy. Lizzy, within the past year, wants to be called Liz. No teachers call her Elizabeth, they both write Liz on papers and everyone calls them Liz.Katharine/Katherine/Kathryn/Catherine - I know a Catherine nicknamed Cat. Most Katherines go by Kate or Katie.Julia - I know a Julia that goes by Jules. But that's just by her friends, not like an Elizabeth going by Liz, where you'd write it on papers and such. Some also call Julia "Ju" or "Jul"Julianna - Same as above ^Olivia - I have a neighbor named Olivia [coincidentally her sister's name is Catherine ^ from above!] and most call her Livi or Liv. I also know another Olivia and most call her Livia. I personally like Livi.

In my limited experiences :o)Elizabeth - do any go by their full name? What nn's do you hear the most or least?
It seems that more and more Elizabeths are going by their full names rather than Liza, Libby or Beth, which were very common nns for Elizabeth when I was growing up.Katharine/Katherine/Kathryn/Catherine - do any go by their full name? Do you ever hear the nn Kaye?
I very rarely see/hear versions of Katharine using anything other than Kate or Katie. I haven't heard the nn Kaye, but it would be a welcome change!Julia - it seems to be a pretty popular baby name right now....I'm wondering if a lot of Julia's will end up just going by Julie?
I doubt it. Maybe Juli - jk! Seriously, I think Jule will be a more popular nn for some reason.Julianna - ?
If I had to guess, I'd say the Juliannas of today will be nnamed Julie, Julia or Lianna.Olivia - does this name typically stay in full - no nickname?
In my experiences, little Olivias usually get called Liv, Livy or Olive (yes!). I love Olive, but my friend whose DD is named Olivia hates it, so I don't use it, sadly. The baby is *always* Liv or Livy.Check Out Blinkyou.com for thousands of custom glitters and layouts

I know 2 Elizabeths that actually go by Elizabeth, 2 that go by Liz, 3 that go by Beth, and 1 that goes by Libby. They are all between 20 and 23.I can think of only 3 C/Katherine's. One goes by Cat, one by Caty and the other Katherine. When we were younger, Katherine wanted to go by Kaye, but she never did. They are 21 and 23.I know one Julia, and she goes by Julia. She's 23.I went to high school with a Julianna, and she went by her full name.I know 2 Olivias, and they both go by their full names. I think Liv is a cute nn though.

Elizabeth - Mainly Liz, not so much Lizzie or Beth or Elle or any of those.Katharine & variations - Mainly just Kate or Katie, although a lot of Katherines I know go by their full name. Julia - Julie, Jules or their full name.Julianna - I know a Julianna and she goes by Juli.Olivia - My friend Olivia is just Olivia, but I guess another nn could be Liv.

My closest friend Elizabeth goes by Liz/Lizzie to her friends, but to adults she's usually Elizabeth. I know an adult Liz as well.Katharine/Katherine/Kathryn/Catherine - do any go by their full name? Do you ever hear the nn Kaye?
~I know one Katherine, and she goes by Kat or Katherine, and two Kathryns who go by Katie. I do, however, know a Kathleen who goes by Kaye.Julia - it seems to be a pretty popular baby name right now....I'm wondering if a lot of Julia's will end up just going by Julie?
~I know one Julia, and she's called Julia/Julie/Jul/Juls interchangably, I think.Julianna - ?
~The Julianna I know goes by her full name.Olivia - does this name typically stay in full - no nickname?
~I used to call my cousin Olivia "Ollie" but it was rather short-lived; she's just Olivia now. The other Olivias I know go by their full name.Do you hear the people sing? Elizabeth - I've known some Elizabeths who have gone by Elizabeth. Liz seems to be the most common nickname for teens and young adults. I also know of one who goes by Biz and another who goes by Dizzy. Katharine/Katherine/Kathryn/Catherine - Most of the babies and teens whom I know of go by Katie. I don't hear the nn Kaye used for teens and children named Katherine, Kathryn, etc.Julia - I have heard of little girls still being called Julie, so it seems like Julie and Julia are both still common.Julianna - I don't know of any babies - teens with this name, but I do know of an adult named Julianna. She goes by Julie. Olivia - It seems like most go by Olivia. Some are called Liv and Livvy though. I have a toddler cousin named Olivia who lives out of state. As far as I know, she doesn't have a nickname.

Elizabeth - I know one who goes by her full name. But osme other nicknames are: Liz, Lizzy, Lizzie, Eliza, Ellie, Liza, Beth, Betty. Mostly Lizzy is heard, for me.Katharine/Katherine/Kathryn/Catherine - I know a few who go by their full name, but most are Kaite or Cate.I'm Julia, and I go by alot. Jules (Jools, Juls), Julsey, JuJu, Pumpkin (hehe, just kidding). I don't go by Julie, and I don't know any other Julia's who do. my parents didn't like Julie, and neither do I. I don't like the sound as much as I like the sound of my name, so I'd never go by it. So... nope, I didn't end up going by it!Julianna - Jules, Juls, Jools, even Julz, Anna, Nan, Julsey, Juju.Olivia I've heard with alot of nicknames. Some are Liv, Livvy, Ollie, Via, O. I know a few Oilivia's who mostly go by their full name, but also get called Liv or Livvy. One even goes by Livia!

Elizabeth: Most that I know go by their full names, but when I do hear nicknames, Ellie, Ella, & Beth seem to be the most common. This is one of my personal faves, but sp. Elisabeth, and I'd be inclined to use the full name, but the occassional Ellie when she's younger would be cute :)Katharine/Katherine/Kathryn/Catherine: I do know a few that go by their full names, but Katie (when she's younger) & Kate (when she's older) seem to be more common. This is another name that I like, sp. Kathryn, and again, I'd be inclined to use the full name, but the occassional Kate or Katie would be fine :)Julia: Every Julia that I know goes by her full name, although I'd want to go by Julie, since I prefer it over Julia. I've also heard Jules as a NN.Julianna: Most, again, go by their full names, but I wouldn't be surprised that some go by Julia, Julie, Jules, or Anna.Olivia: I think this name does typically stay in full, but there are a few who go by Liv or Livvie.

Elizabeth - Well it depends. I know two Elizabeth's one goes by Liz and the other is always Elizabeth.Katharine/Katherine/Kathryn/Catherine - I only know one Katheryn and she goes by her full name, but I love the nickname Kaye!Julia - She might end up being Julie, but it probably won't happen unless she wants.Julianna - Same as Julia, but there would be a better chance of her being called Julie.Olivia - I've only known one Olivia, everyone called her Olivia except for her close friends who called her Liv 50% Of the time.
