[Opinions] Geoffrey?
Which spelling do you prefer? The old one (Geoffrey) or Jeffry, Jeffery? What about nn Geoff? Would you pronounce it 'Jeff' or 'Gee-off'? (I've heard the last one)Although I don't really like the way this name sounds, I love the way Geoffrey looks. I don't like the modern spelling. Also, it makes me think of Geoffrey Chaucer. It would be cool to have the same name as someone so smart. : -)

I prefer Geoffrey. It just looks cooler, I guess. Maybe because my brother played basketball with a rather attractive Geoffrey nn Geoff. ;-)And I would definitely pronounce Geoff the same as Jeff. I would only say Gee-off if I was trying to be insufferable. :P
Veronica: Come on. Ruined lives, bloodshed? You really think a relationship should be that hard?
Logan: No one writes songs about the ones that come easy.

Lol, that is exactly how I feel about it. Except I don't know any fine basketball-playing Geoffreys, lol. : -)

I agree - I love the name Geoffrey. Jeffrey is OK, but NMS - it doesn't have the same appeal Geoffrey has. I think Geoffrey looks much niced, and it makes me think of Geoffrey Chaucer, too. Geoff is a nice nn.

I prefer the spelling Jeffrey and then using the nn Jeff (which I really don't like). I would pronounce Geoff as Jeff.

I have a friend named Geoffrey and he spells it that way. We don't call him (gee-off) but (jeff) like an ordinary pronounciation of a jeffery. Like you, I too prefer Geoffrey over Jeffrey, I find it more appealing and interesting. It seems like a more promising spelling!

I don't like the name in general, but I definitely prefer the spelling Geoffrey. I really dislike Jeffry. And I'd pronounce Geoff as "Jeff."

I prefer Jeffrey but I am biased as it is my husbands first name and my sons middle name :) Jeffrey is a medieval varient of Geoffrey
The Geoffrey spelling has always made me itch to say Ge of free rather than Jef ree, and I can remember pronouncing Geoff as Gee off a couple of times , before I knew the correct pronounciation

I prefer Jeffrey because thats how my husband's middle name is spelled, and I'm partial to J names. But my grandfather on my mother's side was from England and he was named Geoffrey, so to me it seems like the more old-fashioned spelling, but I still like it.

I prefer Geoffrey to Jeffrey, but both are good. I'd pronounce Geoff JEF.____________________________
