Ada Halina and Julian Henryk are siblings from Poland, aged nine and six, respectively. Both children speak English, though they still struggle with it. Ada is a smart, dependable, and mature. She likes reading and drawing and does very well in school. Julian has Aspberger's syndrome, also known has high-functioning autism. His understanding of mathematics is off-the-charts for his age group, but he has trouble interacting with and understanding other people, and generally navigating the world. He wil need a lot of support. Fortunately, Ada understand him and his condition; she will be a tremendous help as he settles is.Leah Irit is a five-year-old from Israel, recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She is a bright, well-meaning child, but coping with her emotions is a real challenge, both for Leah and those around her. She will need a stable home, committed parents, and probably medication in order to succeed, particularly as she gets ready to begin school.
Please let us know how Ada, Julian, and Leah are doing!-- Sarah

We are pleased to report that all of our children are settling in. Ada has been doing very well in school and has made a lot of new friends. Julian had a rough start to the school year, but once we settled into a routine he seemed to get better. A routine also seems to have made a difference for Leah. She knows that she goes to Kindergarten every morning, then she runs errands with me, then we play a game at home before going to pick up Ada and Julian from school. Leah is happiest when we are all home and doing a family activity.

Sonia and Eloisa are already learning English and are very good at the basic phrases. Nika and Alexei help with the girls learning English. Ana Rosa Renata and Juan Rodrigo are siblings from Mexico, aged 14 and 11, respectively. They are fluent in both Spanish; Ana Rosa is fluent in English, Juan is learning quickly. Ana Rosa is smart, outspoken, and very protective of her brother. She does well in school and is interested in trying sports. She wants to become a lawyer. Juan tends to let his sister do the talking, in part because he is still learning English, in part because he is very shy. Juan likes animals and is interested in becoming a vetrinarian when he grows up. His severe dyslexia has preveneted him from succeeding in school, but we are confident that he can overcome this with committed parents, a stable environment, and the right tools.Lauren Emily is a ten-year-old from the USA. She is deaf. She likes younger kids and is excited about having little siblings. Her favorite subject in school is math, followed by history. She loves to read and draw.Matthew Isaac is twelve and from the USA. He's a well-mannered, easy-going kid. He gets average grades and likes video games, movies, and soccer. His biological family, from whom he was recently removed, is Jewish, so Matt has been studying in preparation for his bar mitzvah, which should take place in about six months. He hopes to follow through with this.Dayo Abeni is a four-month-old infant from Africa. She is healthy and will benefit tremendously from a loving home.

It has been a year since we have adopted the children. Ana is 15 years old now, and is takign college level classes. Juan learned english, but he often makes mistakes when reading confusing elsglish sounds and spansish sounds, and his dyslexia only makes it worse. He didnt want to go into the class with the other dyslexic kids out of fear of embarrassment, so we hired a tutor to help him with his reading and writing.Lauren has been doing well. we took her to the doctor to see if we could get a hearing aid, but it wont help her hearing. Matts Bar Mitzvah was flawless. Both Craig and I are Jewish, so we were able to help him, although the synagauge was very crowded from our family, and his many friends.Dayo (who we call DeeDee) is also doing great. Last week she said her first word 'family' which came out more like 'fammy'.
