1. I say: "This is my son Teddy and, no, it's not a nickname."
You say: Oh really? *shifty eyes in an awkward moment while thinking of something to say* That is very cute....
You think: I bet people think it's a great idea to just buy him teddy bears for his birthday....maybe he can get a legal name change later....hopefully...
2. I say: "Meet my sister Calleigh-Grace."
You say: Nice to meet you *stifle a snicker...while attempting to sustain eye contact*
You think: It's not horrible, it's just...oh so 'flash in the pan'
3. I say: "These are my twin sons, Nathan and Nahtan."
You say: They are adorable, I love twins.
You think: Nahtan sure got the short end of the stick....maybe they can get into differant classes at an early age to avoid confusion...
4. I say: "Hi, my name is Emily."
You say: Lovely to meet you. I know many lovely people with your name.
You think: Far too many....blah...
5. I say: "I'm thinking about naming my daughter Clarabelle Gracelyn Matilde. What do you think?"
You say: I like when girls have names of their own gender, especially amongst the wave of female Aubreys, kellys, Madisons, and Mackenzie.
You think: it's a little too frily for my taste, but I don't hate it. Maybe they'll call her Clara.
6. I say: "Hi, I hate my name - it's Angel."
You say: I have a cousin named Angel. It's not so bad.
You think: The cousin is from puerto rico...and is a boy. At least she has enough sense to dislike her own name.
