I think this is a beautiful name, in the vein of Sky/e and Moon, etcetera. I don't have a particular image of a Star in mind, as I feel anyone can be anything - we become our names, thus our names become us. I would absolutely insist on the single R spelling, never the double. I think Starlet is fine even as a fn (I know one, an adult), it sounds so much like Scarlett no one will think it's odd. Starlight is a bit trickier and more hippiefied, but I'm a child of hippies so I like it. You'd be right to reserve it to mn use only, though.
As for fn suggestions for Star, let me think... Okay, here are lots of choices, but they all (well, mostly) have personality to match Star. No Elizabeth or Catherine; no ordinary names, for the most part, unless the alliteration or assonance was irresistable. You know how much I worship alliteration and assonance. Bear with me, read the whole list even if you think the first two thirds sucks, because it may be at the end you find something you like. :-)
Adhara Star
Amaranta Star (not TH, just T)
Andromeda Star
Arabella Star
Araminta Star
Arcadia Star
Arcelia Star
Arden Star
Aria Star
Ariadne Star
Arianne Star
Ariel Star
Arlette Star

There are some beautiful names in your list that I have considered before - great choices!
1. What do you think of this name in general? I like it. It's a bit flaky, but not in a bad, "too much" way. It's simple and crisp.
2. What type of girl do you picture? shrewd, aggressive, energetic, ambitious, original, not a social butterfly but a loyal friend
3. Any first name suggestions for Star? I prefer it as a first name, really.
4. Starr or Star? Star. Definitely not Starr, that reminds me of Ringo Starr so it seems surnamey instead of word-namey. And .. I have a vague idea that Starr was the name of a glam Barbie-like doll in the 70s / 80s. So it seems sort of ticky-tacky to me
5. What do you think of the name Starlet, and Starlight as a middle names? Starlet is bad - puts on airs. Starlight is "too much" flakey, but as a middle name I don't have a problem with it.

1. Not much
2. Ditzy
3. No
4. Star -- If you expect her to spell correctly in school, you need to set a good example.
5. Starlet? As in, Hollywood starlet? Please tell me you are joking. Starlight isn't my style, but at least it is spelled correctly.

1. What do you think of this name in general?
- I find it boring and hopelessly unimaginative. Something about it just makes it seem yawn-able, but I just can't seem to put my finger to it.
2. What type of girl do you picture?
- Well, as a name Star comes off as a name which pretends to be fancier, cooler, and more unique than it really is, so I can't help but think of someone with those attributes when I try to picture someone with that name.
4. Starr or Star?
- Definitely Star.
5. What do you think of the name Starlet, and Starlight as a middle names?
- Starlet makes me think of a naive, air-headed girl who wants to be a moviestar, and Starlight sounds like a name of a caricaturesque hippie in a sitcom. So I don't really like either...

1. I like this as a middle name only!
2. I picture Star as a kind of rebelious little girl.
3. I think almost anything sounds good with the middle name star. I like Gabriella, Annie, and Hailey.
4. I have never really cared about spellings, I mean that is their name either way.
5. Starlet -definately not! Starlight -it's different alright.

1. What do you think of this name in general? Personally, I think it's ridiculous. I prefer Stella, Estelle, Hester or Esther.
2. What type of girl do you picture? A ditz (only b/c I knew a girl named Starla who fit that description)
3. Any first name suggestions for Star? Evening Star (Eve) I have a really hard time not being goofy with this...b/c everything just doesn't sound right. Violet Star? Lacey Star? Bianca Star?
4. Starr or Star? Well, you know Star is rats spelt backward, so you'd better go with Starr. There's no such word as rrats. ;o) Seriously, I prefer it with one r.
5. What do you think of the name Starlet as a middle name? Like I said, I have a hard enough time taking Star seriously. Starlet makes me giggle, so I couldn't use it, myself.
