[Facts] Curious about pronunciation
How do you pronounce the name Aodhán? It is listed on this site as a form of Aiden, and I came across it (naturally) when searching for the meaning of Aiden. Is it pronounced the same? I'm also wondering if anyone would share any additional information they might have on the name. Please excuse my ignorance of etymology.

I *think* (I'm not 100% sure, so don't go by me!) that you pronounce it: o-DH-ann. and I KNOW the "DH" is pronounced as something between a hard "D" and "TH". either that, or it might be pronounced: ouh-DH-ann, with the "OUH" as something between "OW" and "OH". hope this helps! I'm pretty terrible at all the pronunciation stuff, myself!

Aodh on it's own is proounced 'ay' in bay (The anglicisation is Hugh). án is awn. So it can be pronounced Ay-dawn (more common) or Ay-awn, as usually in old names the 'dh' isn't pronounced. E.g. Cliodhna is Clíona - Clee-oh-naAiden is the anglicisation of Aodhán.
