[Surname] Almroth
Does anyone have any information on the surname Almroth? It seems to be most popular in Sweden. Does it maybe come from the Old Norse element "almr"?

Ostensibly yes, it's Alm "elm" plus hroþr "fame, glory". Swedish surnames are new, the tradition until recently being to use patronymics as in Iceland. it doesn't gain an entry in any of the sources used by Nordic Names, so it's probably a neologism. Elm, like yew, is used to make bows, so is a euphemism for a bow or archer.
