Following her health scare and no longer passionate about her career, Marie-Louise has decided to reduce her hours to part-time. She has joined a night class in hairdressing (aiming to style her own rather than anyone else’s), volunteers once a week to fill her time, and has found a group of retirees at her church with whom she has become friends. The head of the ladies is a great adventurer and Marie-Louise now accompanies them on monthly day trips. She also takes frequent holidays, both by herself, with some of her long-time friends, and with her youngest daughter – although Nicole’s availability has recently become scarcer. Her canine companion Duke passed away last year, much to her distress. She is thinking of downsizing again and moving to the countryside.

Anders and Marina are still happy. Their elder daughter Junia is still very outgoing, full of energy and is developing an interest in sports and music. She is doing well at school and shows signs of being as intelligent as her aunt Céline. Their younger daughter Livia is the quieter type, preferring to be indoors and obsessed with colours and shapes. She can often be seen colouring for hours on end. Anders and Marina are content with their family and have no plans for more children.

Dylan met a new girlfriend at a football match he brought Kylo to and they now have a son together, which initially caused a rather large problem for the previously ideal arrangement in place with Sadie. Dylan struggled to give his boys enough attention whilst acting as a full-time father to a new baby, leaving them with Sadie for long stretches of time and making them feel neglected. Things have only recently begun to improve, and he is rebuilding his bond with Kylo and Archer through football, an activity all three love. However Kylo and Archer want to spend time with their father alone, and have little to do with their new half-brother, which has made blending the family difficult.

Céline has been made assistant manager of the youth football team, but it doesn’t pay enough to become a full-time job and she is now focusing far more seriously on her career at the legal firm. Somewhat to her surprise, her no-strings relationship with Max quickly developed into a steady commitment and when he got down on one knee, despite her neutral attitude to marriage, she accepted. The wedding was a small ceremony attended only by close family and friends, as well as the couple’s seven month old baby boy, although he missed a large part of the occasion due to crying. His cousin Kylo was less than pleased to be denied cake in favour of pushing a pram around outside. Céline and Max have settled into a very happy domestic routine and are even considering another child, although Céline is determined to wait until their son is several years older. She hopes he will enjoy football.

Elias and Sebastian are still living in Norway. Their normally harmonious relationship hit its first obstacle at Céline’s wedding when it became clear that Elias was eager to follow in his sister’s footsteps whilst Sebastian was content to carry on as partners, especially as they were making plans to take over the family restaurant, which was more of a commitment than a proposal in his eyes. Elias changed his mind by dropping to one knee at the airport. The wedding date has not yet been set, in part because both men want an extravaganza, but also because diplomatic discussions are ongoing between the families, both of whom want the event to happen in their country.

During a period of transition between jobs, Felix temporarily moved into the house Nicole shared with his sister, which was a rather awkward arrangement for all three, but reassured Nicole that their relationship was serious enough to handle cohabitation. After Felix found his feet working on the creative team of an advertising agency, the pair decided to set up home together. Marriage is not on the cards as both regard it as too much stress and expense, but Nicole and Felix have just welcomed a daughter. They have agreed that this will be their only child as it is exhausting.

Nicole and Felix’s daughter has been given the sweet feminine name that her mother wanted to give Dylan if he had been a girl, which ends in –na. Her middle name honours her aunt, Nicole’s best friend. Like her brother, she has a name that is used in both German and English. Her surname is Boehler.
