[Opinions] Think we decided on a name
Think we decided on a name. Sophia Juliet nn Sophie.
I know Sophia is very popular but it’s one of the only names we could agree on and it’s a grandparents name so extra special. Just wanted to see what others thought of this name? It’s not set in stone but right now it’s the top combo. Is this a good name? Is it boring or too fancy?
Any other good nickname ideas?

I've seen mostly Soph as short for Sophia. If you don't mind using a common name, then it shouldn't be an issue. It is a very beautiful and classic name, with a good meaning. I don't really hear the name Sophia that much in real life, either, compared to like Olivia or Emma.
Sophia is a pretty, and I love the wisdom meaning. You already know that Sophia and Sophie were super popular in the 2010s, so if the popularity doesn't bother you, I don't have anything to add. Anneza's suggestion of Phia as another possible nickname is cool. Congratulations on the baby!

I have always thought Sophia to be very elegant, but I’m bored with the name Sophie. I know way too many. Funnily enough many have a sister named Isabel! I’ve seen Fifi & Fia used as nickname Sophia. Alternatives could be Safiya, Athena, Ophelia, Xanthe, Sylvia “Sylvie”, Fiona, Seraphine and Aviva

Julie, Jules or Lettie could work as nn

Well, the fact that it's a grandmother's name makes it all the more worthy of consideration, in my opinion! My name is William (and I strictly go by "Will," most of the time), so I know how it feels to have an uber-common name- it can be (or was) somewhat annoying, if there are multiple of us in a workplace/classroom...but you learn to live with it. I don't think the name Sophia is boring, and being "fancy" is another quality for me. I'm sure Sophia would be proud of her name; unlike parents who may have chosen what's popular, there's extra sentimental behind her name. Besides, you both love the name Sophia Juliet anyway, and that's what truly matters. I personally much prefer Sophie to Sophia, but I think that Sophia is still a wonderful choice. Juliet is also a beautiful name, and I think that it pairs nicely with Sophia. I can't think of any nicknames other than Soph, Phia, and Soapy, but I personally just prefer Sophia in its full form.
It's okay, just very undisinguished-sounding. Sophie is a nn I have never liked, it's cutesy and prim and sounds too much like soapy. SJ might be a nn, for the right person. All the other nns I can think of would be for Juliet and it seems silly to use a nn for the middle name if you intended her first name to be Sophia.
Friends of mine had a daughter, born with no hair. They battled for months to choose a name for her, and suddenly Sophia appeared to be the one. So they registered her birth proudly and started calling her Phia, which in our dialect sounds like Fire. When her hair finally sprouted, it was red, which made her nn very suitable (and very funny, because she had the nn before the apparent reason for it).
Cool story!
It's beautiful. I haven't actually met any little Sophia's/Sophie's in my daughters age group (7 months) and I meet a lot of other babies. I think it's dropping off in popularity.
It looks and sounds very beautiful: the family connection is lovely too. I'd be proud to have it as a name!
It's lovely. I love Sophie as a full name too, I love the grandmother's connection though. Great name, not boring or too fancy
Sophia Juliet is a lovely, classic name. I like Sosie as a nickname for Sophia.
I like Sophia Juliet the best! I am happy you've made this decision!
Sophia Juliet is a very pretty name! Though in my opinion, Sofia is a better spelling than Sophia. You could call her Sonya or Sofiyka, if those diminutives aren't too weird where you live.
