[Opinions] Names like Blair - please help!
Hi all, my sister & her husband are expecting their first baby - a girl! Unfortunately, they have yet to agree on a single name.My sister is saying she suddenly dislikes every girl name she sees. The only one she likes is Blair, but her hubby doesn’t like it. Can anyone help me come up with some ideas for them? I know they like the idea of simple names that are easy to pronounce and understand. They would love to find a one-syllable name, but are open to all ideas at this point. It seems like my sister is leaning toward names I would consider “posh,” but maybe that’s just my own perception of the name Blair. We are grateful for any help/ideas you can offer. TIA!

I don't see Blair as posh, but that's probably because I'm English and my first thought is Tony Blair. My second thought is The Blair Witch Project.Jane

I think Blair got its posh feel because of a rich-girl character in the eighties sitcom "The Facts of Life." Not one-syllable but Mallory, Meredith, Whitney, Mckenzie, Courtney, Lindsey, Hillary and Fallon all have those same sort of eighties-posh vibes to me.One syllables:RoseClaireSkyPaige (I think this one is most like Blair in feel)QuinnGraceFaithHopeBlakeDawn
Based off of "Blair" I'm assuming you live in an English speaking place. So I will give names that are okay in English speaking places. Not nessecarily one syllable (most are two), but simple and short. Starred names are diminutives- but I don't think English speakers would notice. - Anne (or Anna)
- Clara (or Claire)
- Bella
- Zlata
- Sveta * or Svita *
- Mia
- Lila
- Kate
- Mila * (also standalone)
- Kira

- Zheka *
- Ella
- Sara
- Ira *
- Iva *
- Iryna, Irina (less syllables: Irene?)
- Tara
- Kara
- Kato (diminutive in Georgia)
- Nina *
- Reva * (note that it's short for a name that means "revolution"- but it can also be stand alone from the same word)
- Lesya *
