[Opinions] Raven and River?
WDYT of Raven or River as a name? (Sex is unknown, but both seem fairly unisex). (If its a boy we are considering Raven Malik or Raven Alister/Alistair.) Incidentally, the last name is German with a 'hard' sound, so we want to stick with slightly unusual names but also soften the sound of the full name a bit.

I LOVE River...but Raven is rather atrocious IMO.

I'd like Raven for a girl and River for a boy. Not names I would use but I like them for others.

I like both of them. however, I agree that while River can be either masculine or feminine, I would NOT use Raven for a boy.

I prefer River out of the two, it's a great name. Raven I prefer for a girl, sorry.

I like Raven Alistair, but Raven seems better for a girl to me. River could work for either, but I'm leaning more towards boy since the show Firefly.

You are using River? Nice! Do others (friends, family) seem to like it as a boy's name too?

Yes, well my dad keeps calling him "riverbank" LOL. Aside from that everyone likes it alright. My friend is also planning to use River for her son. I know a woman who has a daugther named River. I prefer it on a boy but if I never have sons my daugther will be named River.I only see it mostly on boys, occasionally a few girls.ETA: mind you i'm not expecting, or married or having children anytime soon. I have liked the name River for over 7 years, and it hasn't changed as my top boy's name yet. I think it's there to stay. LOL.Please when you finally pick a name tell me what you named the little one :) I'd love to know :). Congrats!
ETA again: I LOVE Raven for both genders, I had Raven down for a boy for a while, though personally wouldn't use it. I love it. River is semi-popular sadly..lol if you don't want it to be popular too much i'd go with Raven I haven't seen many of those especially boys! :) Good luck.

Although both Raven and River are both names that I would never consider using myself, I would admire and give credit to anyone who would use them. I think they are both very usable. I knew a beautiful young girl named Raven that was a student in the school I taught. I think River works best on a boy, and although Raven could work for either I first picture it on a girl (probably due to my experience). Good luck choosing... great middle choices as well.

I love Raven and River, on both boys and girls. Raven Alistair is very handsome! River Malik would also work!~Erin Lee, wife of Matthew James, mama to Sarah Patrice~
