[Opinions] Re: What are some Girls K names?
in reply to a message by Cherish
Not my favorite letter it seems. I got only one name on all my lists: Kateri.
It comes from the Mohawk pronunciation of Katherine. This was the name adopted by the 17th-century Mohawk saint Kateri Tekakwitha upon her baptism. I know the name is controversial. Some people in the indigenous community dislike the name and represents colonization and the forced evangelization of the First nations. But I know some indigenous peoples also embrace it. Kateri Champagne-Jourdain is Quebec's current Minister of Employment and Social Solidarity and was the first indigenous women to be elected as a Quebec MP.
