[Opinions] Re: May to honor Amy
in reply to a message by Wordsmith
I feel like that it could, even if the names aren't related- I actually think the anagram gives it a cool, hidden meaning of its origin story (for a potential daughter's name).
On the other hand, I'm not a huge fan of the name May, because it's the name of a spring month. Also, speaking from experience here (my name is William, and I have always gone by "Will"), having a word name can be confusing; the word "may" is used commonly in the English language (in phrases such as "You may go now" or "There may be a party later this evening". I can't express how many times I've tripped myself up when people use the word "will" in a sentence, lol). Despite that, I really enjoy the sound, appearance, and classiness of May- it seems that not many use this name anymore, and it also reminds me of Pokémon which is great!
I do enjoy the flexibility that May offers when making combinations and think that all of your choices flow nicely. These are my favorites from the list, however:
May Susanna
May Dorothy
May Renata
May Cecily
May Clarice
May Clarissa
May Lavinia
May Cornelia
May Sibylla
In order to honor your parents, may I suggest some more combination ideas?
Amity Lenore
Amora Drusilla
Valerie Amanda (I like this combination, because I find it gorgeous. However, I think that it makes a sweet tribute to your parents, with Valerie's "strength" and Amanda's "love". It also includes both of your parent's first names!)
Amabel Virginia
Amanda Valentina
Valencia Amora
Amaryllis Valentina
Honoring with names beginning with the same letters (as their names):
Lucilla Agnes
Agatha Lucille
Dorothy Lucinda
Doris Lavinia
Delfina Lois
Abigail Verena
Louisa Virginia
Lucina Dolores
Lucretia Adela
