[Opinions] Hector
I know Hector and Héctor are 2 different names on this site, but do you feel like Hector as a name is currently suitable for anyone who isn't hispanic? I personally love the name, and I think it's a bit of a shame how it isn't popular among non-hispanic americans and europeans.

I’m in Europe but it doesn’t register as particularly Hispanic to me, I mostly think of the Iliad character.
Sure, at least as much as like... Hugo or Gilbert or August. There's a non-Hispanic American poster here who has a son named Hector. My main association personally is Hector Protector. It's a nursery rhyme. Plus 'Hector Crosses the River' which is an old kids' book. So it seems kind of dorky to me but in a (potentially multicultural) classic English name way.

It is already used in places where people speak English so I think it can work for anyone who isn't Hispanic. I like the Spanish pronunciation better though - it has grown on me.
I think it's lack of popularity here (in the UK) is the lack of obvious nickname. Heck isn't favourable.I do think Hector is very handsome. I would happily use it as a MN.
It's a handsome name, I like it, but I don't think it's only restricted to Hispanic people since it's not uncommon in the UK and France.
The only ones i know are Hispanic and 60 plus. Don't really like the name
I like Hector.
I love Hector!
I quite like Hector and would love to see it used more often!
Sure Hector is most popular with Hispanics right now, but it still seems to be moderately popular in the US, England, and France, according to the rankings. I don't see it as exclusively a Hispanic name.I think in the US, after Hispanics, Black people use it most often lately. At least that is my observation.
the only Hector I know of irl in my area is a friend's grandfather, who was himself born as a Chilean catholic.
Funny I should see this post as I just finished reading, Hector and the Search For Happiness last night. (About a psychiatrist who takes a vacation to find out what makes people happy. That's pretty much the premise of it. The movie was much better, imo)
Anyway, Hector, the titular character is Caucasian so I'm pretty sure it works. I rather don't care for the name regardless much as it makes me think of Heck.
Héctor is slightly better.
