It’s probably both… in a way.
Names can be spelled the same but come from different languages and have different meanings.
You can see this with the name Karen.

Amaya (see also Amaia) is in the database and it correctly tagged as Spanish and Basque, it could also be tagged as Literature (because it was popularised by a literary work).
