[Opinions] Alvin Elwyn Evelyn
I like all these names for various reasons. Evelyn is probably my favorite girl name for a long time but it's too popular in the US. I didn't really like similar names that were always suggested if you like Evelyn you will like Elowen or whatever the suggestion was. I saw Elwyn and loved it almost as much then I found an Elwin in my family and thought that was so cool. Alvin is another family name I like and possibly why I like the others because of the similar sound.
I really like the sound of Alvin Ross for a boy. Evelyn is out for a first name but my brother who is done having kids thought about Evelynn. I wouldn't have thought of this because the weird spelling would have thrown me but it makes it like it oh so much more. My middle name is a mix of two family names and I love it so I would love to use Evelynn as a middle name for this same reason.
All of them would more likely be possibly used as middle names in any children we may have. What do you guys think of the names? Spellings? Are there any first names or combos that sound as good as Alvin Ross?

I thought I would update as I have thought more on potential combos with these names. I have not been a fan of John as I feel it is plain and common. Maybe the male equivalent of Mary but I was trying out different Bible names with Alvin as a middle name and did really like John Alvin together. They are both grandparents so it may grow on me.
I wouldn't let popularity stop you. Sometimes a name just feels right. The others you and some other commenters have listed are very good too. Yvonne and Elwyn sound really sophisticated. Elowen sounds slightly too much like Elenwen for me, Elder Scrolls villain lady, so I can't quite imagine it but I recognize that's a very silly personal nitpick. (The elves of Elder Scrolls take a lot of Tolkien inspo, and Tolkien used a lot of Welsh inspo for his fictional elf language. A lot of their names will have familiar sounding elements.)
I don't really like Alvin or Elwyn but would work as middles. I like Evelyn with this spelling but as a mn it wouldn't matter with the 2 n especially with the spelling combining of namesYvette, Eva, Evangeline, Yvonne, Evalina may be other similar ones
I actually wouldn’t consider Evelyn similar to Elowen. Elowen is much softer and isn’t classic. Besides, one syllable change can make all the different in a name. Personally, I love Elowen and don’t particularly like Evelyn.Elwyn looks too feminine to me. I like Elwin, though. Alvin is handsome but reminds me too much of the mischievous chipmunk.
It is so funny to me how names can get ruined in that way. I suppose I know of Alvin and the chipmunks but the name is too dear for that to be my first thought. Chip and Dale are a thing but I can't say I think of them when I hear the name Dale. There must be a threshold of a name that is just odd enough it is ruined. Like Adolf is a cool name but it gets ruined. I mean it was probably fairly common in Germany but maybe only in Germany. Joeseph Stalin doesn't seem to have ruined Joeseph maybe because it was just way more common.
Oh, I don’t mean the name is ruined! It’s just something to keep in mind. I’ve never heard the name Alvin used anywhere else, so that’s definitely part of it.
I do like one of your Alvin suggestions that would tie in another family member. I'm not sure how I feel about using it as I have already used that person's middle name for a kid. Maybe it would be time to use another family members name. Maybe if I have twins I could use it 🤔.
