It’s sweet, though there are plenty of names I prefer to it.
I prefer Agatha but I don't mind Agnes if pronounced the French way.
I like Agnes a lot, but I do agree that the ''AGG'' sound (like it is pronounced in English) is a bit harsh. I don't hate it in english, and it goes well with my old-fashion taste.
That being said, I am a native French speaker and I much prefer the French pronunciation of an-YES or a-NYES. The ''nyes'' sound is just a bit more gentle for a feminine name.

I love it. It was on the shortlist for my daughter.
It feels somehow cozy and fresh at the same time.
I think I don’t really see it as an old lady name as I went to school with an Agnes so it has always seemed younger? The harsh AGG sound could be be off putting to some, I imagine. Personally, I quite like those harsh sounds.

Still blows my mind that it's not more popular. It's one of those 'old lady' names that fits a young girl too (like Evelyn does now). Agnes has always been fairly ageless to me, I can see a wide range fitting this one well. It's mature, but not stuffy and matronly. A touch of youth, but not babyish. Fresh, but not bizarre. Historical, but not obscure. What more could you ask for?
Agnes is lovely, gentle, and warm. My friend—32, nonfiction writer, graduate of a liberal arts college, generally hip—was considering it for her daughter, whom she ultimately named Edith. I think it'll come back in a significant way.
I really like it, it has a cozy charm.
Agnes has really grown on me. I used to hate it, but then I matured a bit and now I can see its charms. There's something really cozy about it to me, like a big, old, well-worn, comfy sweater - like yeah, it's not the most fashionable thing, but it's so soft, and when you wear it you feel like everything is going to be all right.
Agnes feels cuter to me than Agatha, which is getting more love lately too.

One of the worst names ever.
Terrible
I have always thought that Agnes was a beautiful name with historical flair!
I wouldn't choose it for a child of my own but I like it and can certainly see the appeal for others. I like the shape of it and I enjoy the -nis/nehs sound but the initial AG-/AK- sound puts me off.
It’s my middle name and I like it.
I don’t really like it. It sounds like an old hag name.
