Nothing. So bland. Saltine crackers.
I'm a little biased with the name. I've always loved the name Catherine/Katherine. I even named my eldest daughter Katherine. She goes by Kate, Katie, Kat, and others depending on her mood! :D
Personality traits I think of with the name Kate, is spunky, joyful, wildly creative, and personable.

Katharine is lovely. It's been too popular for too long, and every single one is either Kate or Katie; this means that Kate could be, and is, anyone. I'd be touchingly grateful to meet a Cathy or a Kitty for a change.
I mostly think of the Kate I knew best. She was quite short, like five two or maybe shorter, fit and strong, sort of endomorphic build, very pale, dark haired, had one of those faces that is striking and memorable, beautiful but not in a conventional or "pretty" way. She was extroverted, very witty and bright, able to be sardonic and happy at the same time, and everyone thought she was Really Cool - but she didn't come off as a "popular person" more of an urban, artsy, friendly to everyone kind of cool. I think she was born around 1980 or so. (eta I just looked her name up online and she's now a cardigan-clad teacher, and a mother)
I also think a little bit Taming of the Shrew when I hear the name Kate. It's a little bit sharp ... vaguely ironic, in a good way, since it's not actually a girlish seeming nickname. It's sort of like Jill or Jackie - a light nickname for a more ponderous full name, but one that "grows up" well and doesn't seem "diminutive."
Most of the Katherines I've known have been Kats and Kathys. One Katie.
