Hi Everyone,
I found this website when I was a kid in 2004, and used to post often. I haven't been on much in the last few years, but I wanted to share the recent birth of my daughter.
Elowyn Sitara was born on May 31st.
Other names we considered were Rosamund, Tamsin, Sanna, Luna, Willow, and Arwen. I prefer the traditional spelling Elowen, but Elowyn was a compromise with my husband to find a name we could agree on.
Elowyn is honoring some of my mixed European ancestry, and Sitara is in honor of my husband's Indian heritage. Both have nature meanings, which is important to me.
Baby is doing very well!

I was attempting to use the more traditional pronunciation, el-O-wen, but it was difficult for people here to pronounce. Mostly, we've been saying EL-o-wyn. I think the accent here makes el-O-wen and EL-o-wyn sound very similar.
Yeah, now that you mention it, I think it can work to have two or more pronunciations. My sister's name is like that. People may read it different ways, but they're hardly ever really "wrong." I like your attitude about it!
