It's pointedly Christian. In a mainstream way, I mean - it doesn't strongly suggest piety. But it's not secular. Neither is Maria. Mariah seems more secular.
As a baby name ... I would use Maria, Mariah, or Mary, even though I'm not religious - my family heritage is Christian, and I respect a lot of things about Christianity, so I think it's not weird. I prefer Maria and Mariah over Mary, just because Mary still sounds a little old and staid to me - but I'm getting old and staid myself these days so I don't expect it seems old and staid anymore for people who're younger right now.
Mary seems a bit antique and precious, but in a nice way, like Jane or Rose does - a conservative/traditional-chic aesthetic.
