[Opinions] Thoughts on the name Nicole for a girl?
What are your thoughts on the name Nicole for a girl?

Tired, honestly.I'm a '90s kid, so I knew and knew of so many who had it either as a first or middle name. It got very overused as a middle name, I think, almost like a placeholder - even when it seemed out-of-place. (I knew a Mary Nicole, and that was always a bit incongruous to me.)There's nothing wrong with the name, I just think it had a major moment over a few decades and that moment has passed.
I think it's a beautiful, stunning feminine variation of Nicholas!
Sounds whiney.I prefer the more energetic Nicola.
Kind of boring. Nicolette is a little more interesting.
I do like it a bit. Though I prefer Nichole spelling wise. I also like Nichola. Somewhat dated, but I've not known many people with the name. Knew a Nichole in school and a Nichola is an old teacher of mine
Still very tired for me, since I'm an 80s baby and knew sooooo many. I don't think it's really ready for a comeback yet. It's a Mom name now, it needs time to become a grandma name.Still, more refreshing to see it as a first name on a young person than as a filler middle name.
It's extremely dated here in the US. I grew up with many unremarkable Nicoles...
Nicola and Nichola were more popular than Nicole here when I was little (1980s-early 90s). I am now bored of Nicole as well as Nicola and Nichola though as a whole generation of Nicolas in my area seem to have named their daughters Nicole. I also have a friend Nicole (not born in the uk) who was a young child in the 70s and early 80s. Nicole was one of five girls with the same name in her class at school. They need a rest I think.
I love Nicole. I think this is a cool name.
I went to HS with 6 in my grade.... Its nice but 80s
I have never liked it and I wouldn't say I like the nickname Nikki or however you spell it.
It’s ok, very 80s/early 90s to me. Better as a middle name.
It’s actually my middle name. It’s kind of just screams the ‘80’s.
In the US, Nicole was most popular in the 1980's and it reached No# 6 in 1982 (that's 21,706 girls who were given the name for just that year). I knew so many Nicoles through the years that I no longer find it interesting or even particularly French. Michelle, Renee and Danielle also suffer the same fate. I guess it's a case of over familiarity making something feel generic or basic and that applies to baby names as well.
