Help[Opinions] How close is too close?
We're naming baby #3, and at the moment the top boy name DH and I agree on is Gareth. Only problem: Our daughter's name is Edith. Are these names too rhymey, or is it actually fine?

I think it’s fine, not too close because the start of each name is much different.

For me I think ones that have same nickname options are the ones that tend to be too close for me. I recently saw a post asking if Kendall and Kennedy are too close, while they are different both are easily Ken/Kenny so too close.
I don't see Gareth or Edith getting called "Ith" so, not too close lol

Cute! I think it's fine. Might depend on your other kid's name.
It's not that they rhyme (they don't) but that they both end in th and are very uncommon, so it looks kind of like you've got a theme going. The one without the th ending would kind of stick out.
Yes if 2 out of 3 have same ending, that is too close and the other one looks left out

I think at most you may run into them mishearing which kid you’re calling for from the top of the steps (speaking as a person who shares similar sounding but not samey/matching names with her own siblings). Not the end of the world - I wouldn’t let that be a deterrent if it were me.
