[Opinions] What do you think of the name Pamela for a girl?
Thoughts on Pamela?

Replies

I now think of this John Singer Sargent painting: Pamela Wyndham is one of the titular sisters.
I love it very much! It’s actually on my short list for a future daughter. I see it as elegant and lavish and fuchsia pink. The only downside is the nn Pam, I get nauseous at the thought of my (nonexistent) daughter being called Pam lol! But Pammy is cute on a baby/toddler and Polly, although is a stretch, is my favorite nn for Pamela.
Pamela is one of my absolute favorite girl names, so I really love it.
I like it a lot. It has a 1930s girls' boarding-school vibe which is charming, and I've never met a dud one. And, a dear friend who had extreme bad luck with his first wife has found excitement, tranquillity and joy with a lovely Pamela, nn Pam (which I think is not as nice as Pamela, but probably can't be avoided).
Completely neutral.
I hate it. I think the first syllable is unpleasant.
I don't mind the full name Pamela but I'm not crazy about the nickname Pam. Other nickname options like Pammy, Pamelita, Mela, Melly, Ela etc...aren't really any better.

I like it
I think it's a very pretty name, sort of flowery and sunshiny. I really don't like the nn Pam, which seems about as inevitable as nns go. Pam is the brand name for a nonstick spray to use on your baking pans.
My MIL has a very obnoxious, pretentious sister named Pamela, nn Pam, so I'd never use for a daughter.
I've never liked the name and idk why
