[Opinions] Thoughts on this girl name
Nirvana...

Replies

My first thought is of the rock band, which I really love. However, the Buddhist associations turn me away; it's very tied to Buddhism, and I feel like it could be disrespectful (if you aren't Buddhist, that is). Though, the sound is absolutely breathtaking!
I adopted a cat with this name once. I renamed him, it wasn't an easy name to use. I'm sure the former owner thought it was very cool for a name but it didn't work irl. I guess Vana is always an option, that's a bit better.
Not suitable for human use. Plus, the first syllable sounding like Nerve isn't a good idea.
Not a name to me. Real Buddhists don't name their kids that, and for non-Buddhists mostly what comes to mind is the band.
If I met somebody who was named Nirvana (post-90s) I'd assume their parents named them after the band. It feels like naming your kid Metallica.
Metallica would be an awesome villain or dark fairy name...
It's pretty but not delicate. It would be good for a fictional character. It seems too heavy a burden for a real child - might be worse than Heaven since people are far more receptive to Christianity than other religions where I am from. People would assume that the parents were trying too hard to be cool and culturally diverse.
I like it, but I do wonder if it's cultural appropriation.
That's what I'm thinking.
I went to college with an Indian-American girl from Ohio named Karuna Gabrielle; one of her sisters is named Nirvana.

I don't like the sound all that much, and the connections to Buddhism and the rock band would make it awkward and weird. It's a no from me.
Sorry don't like it
