My name is William, often going by "Will" among my loved ones. My brothers used to jokingly call me Wilma, saying it would be my female name. I have never really cared for it; I don't like the way that it sounds. However, it does have a sense of nostalgia for me, as I used to enjoy the Flinstones.

Quite common where I live, as a fem form of Willem. Sounds like VILmah. I wouldn't use it, but it's better than Wilhelmina.

An old woman name. The only person I have known with this name is at least 10 years older than my mother who was born 1958.

I had a horrible manager named Wilma who tried making my working life hell. So hence I hate the name. But even before Wilma I disliked the name.
