First syllable is unattractive, but it does look better than Hellen.
I like it. It's an understated beauty.
This is one of those names which has a very different generational use history on the opposite sides of the Atlantic.
In the USA Helen peaked way back in 1917. It should be just about getting to the point here today when the avant-garde will want to revive it.
In England, however, Helen only became popular in the middle of the 20th century and peaked in the late 1960s there. So Helens in the UK now average out in their late 50s and so it will be much harder for people in Britain to think of it as a "cool" name.

It's an okay name. I prefer Helena, it seems more complete.

I love how it has long history, how it sounds, and how it looks...I'd say that Helen is a marvelous name.
I've always loved Helen and would gladly use it. I dislike Ellen and quite enjoy Eleanor, but Helen is a winner every time. I've met more Helene people than Helen people, and I don't find it at all attractive.
It’s a gorgeous name, and I always imagine a woman named Helen to have warm brown eyes and hair. I love love love this name!
