I'm not from UK, but see these 2 names as very British and in the UK there are a number of nn used as full names Alfie, Archie, Sadie, Charlie and lots with ie endings Elsie, Bonnie, Maisie etc

I don't like the name Alfred sounds too old fashioned and Alfie too cutesy
