It's nothing agains't people named John, as individuals. I'm sure they are nice folks. But the name is just so dull.

Also Brendon/Brandon/Brian seems like the blandest boys name ever.

Haha, I’m Katherine, and my brother is Benjamin Thomas. I know they’re basic, but I love them. My mom’s doll from her childhood is named Sarah. Her name is pretty, but got mispronounced like Reagan a lot, which is why my brother and I have such basic names.

A lot of the names you mentioned have a lot of dimension and interest to me -- maybe it's their history or etymological connections to other names. The ones that feel plainest to my ear are names that were trendy for a moment in time and became really tied to a 'basic' vibe for a particular period.
