It has been five years since we last saw the Thayer family. Lia has been feeling lonely as her husband works late into the night, so they have decided to adopt a pet cat. The apartment already feels more lively! A year later, in 1972, Lawrence and Lia's first daughter is born. It's starting to feel crowded, especially with the ever growing plant collection.

Lawrence has been working hard to earn money for his growing family and has started an apprenticeship under an electrician. Between work, taking care of his kid, and having a hard earned rest, it's a miracle he manages to have time to visit his parents. After much consideration, Lia has decided to quit her job as a tailor and become a full-time mom. Now that she has more free time, she has been learning to knit and loves making hats and scarfs for her loved ones. Lia also continues to care for her beloved plants. Lia and Lawrence's child is strong and healthy and has already shown how smart she is. She is extremely curious and loves to copy the people she sees on TV, especially the dancers and gymnasts. She and the new cat have become fast friends.
