I love the spunkiness (is that even a word?) of the name Rory, and I like it on either gender. However, I'm having issues coming up with full names for Rory, as I consider it a nn.Can you suggest some names, both genders, that could produce the nn Rory?All I can think of is Aurora for girls, and Gregory for boys (could this work? My dad's mn is Gregory, so I'm predisposed to like it. Gregory nn Rory?)TIA!

I love Rory, but only for a boy. I don't consider it a nn at all, as its a name in its own right. But the best option for a "full" name for it, for a boy, is Rordan, imo.

I know a boy called Rory, which is a nn, because his full first name is Rhodri (which, btw, he dislikes lol).

I don't like the name. It could mostly be because I have trouble saying it though. Rory and Roy are just two names that I can't get out no matter how hard I try.But I do see Rory as only male and as a complete first name.

I love the name Rory-on a boy and as a full name. My cousin's name is Rory and he's so handsome and cool. :)

Rory is not a nn. It is a traditional Irish boy's name, meaning red (haired) king. It has no etymological connection to Gregory, but I can see that as a formal name, if you really felt the need. It's nice to see family names passed down.I can't stand it on a girl, sorry. I think nns like Georgie (Georgia / Georgina) or Jackie (Jacqueline) are cute. The difference is that everyone knows George and Jack are boy's names and there's no fear of the names becoming permanently feminine. Everyone understands they are merely on loan. But with Rory, it's new to most people so there is a real danger that, if bestowed on girl's, it might never find its way back to boys. I love Rory so much for a boy that this is a real pet peeve of mine. Sorry to rant, but I'm Irish(-American.)

emphatic Ditto to all!I don't mean to seem snotty to those who like Rory as a girl's nickname, but Rory is SO masculine to me. And I like it, too. On men. Rorie for Aurora is alright .. I guess.. with me.- mirfak

Yay! Rory is such a sweet name. :DAurora and Gregory both seem like the most reasonable full forms to me; anything else is a bit of a stretch. I'd like to say, though, that I think Rory works perfectly well as a proper name.-- Sarah

I cant think of a boy but i know two woman named aurora who go by Roryall i could think of was roberto lol

oops...I'm not logged in so I can't edit my post, but I'd like to correct a few things. Firstly, I don't think that Rory could be a nn for Corazon, but I accidently typed the name because the name Corona made me think of it. Secondly, Roarc is not a real name - the name I was thinking of was Ruarc, which also couldn't really have Rory for a nn. I just forgot how the name was actually spelled.
