[Opinions] Texas
so im writing a story and there's gonna be a minor female character called 'Texas', but it will be krreighha8ghtyevvleigh spelled (just for laughs). she plays the role of being a loud neighbour.which is best?
Texys
Texyss
Texess
Texesse
Texxas
Texxys
Texis
add suggestions if you likealso, does Texys look like tex-ees to you? also it's supposed to be stupid, so i don't need anyone to inform me it is.

Replies

Texys. I would not pronounce it TEX-ees.
If she just plays a minor, comic role, I'd advise against spelling Texas creatively; Texas as a given name is odd enough that spelling it funny would just add unnecessary padding to the story and seem like you were working too hard for your laughs.
I vote for Texys, which I would never pronounce as "tex-ees."
TEXIS looks like parents wanted to name her Texas but didn't know how to spell it. TEXYS looks like parents wanted to be trendy, the same way my great aunt named her daughters Alexis and London but spelled them Alexys and Londyn. Depends on which "stupid" you're looking for, but I'd go with one of those.
Texis seems most simple and intuitive. Texesse seems OTT in the least annoying way. Texys does look like tex-ees to me. I prefer Texyss although would pronounce the same.Texxas seems more obnoxious, if that's the goal.

The double Xs give it an X-rated feel, so not that. Texyss and Texesse have my vote for being over the top cutesy.
Texyss for sure. I can see someone using that spelling in real life, plus the extra S does add a bit more femininity into it in my eyes.
Just by sight Texyss would look like it's supposed to be pronounced the same as the state more than Texys would. The double S would work the same as it does in Alyssa, Melissa, etc. Spelling those as Alysa and Melisa tends to change the y and i to an 'eee' sound, so I believe the same principal could apply here.
Plus when it comes to kre8tiv spellings, the more the merrier when it comes to over-decorative extra letters.I will say that Texesse definitely gives me 'child pageant girl' kind of vibes, too. I'd imagine the parent who gave that name to their child was trying to channel some polish and flair into that one.
Texis is kind of cute. But if you want ultimate cringe, do Texxys.
Texys doesn't look like Tex-ees to me because it reminds me of Alexys, which is an alternate spelling of Alexis.
