We had a lot of residents named Dennis a year or so again, now we're down to one. None of them were particularly pleasant people. One of them was a complete slime ball. I hope it was just age that made him act the way he did, but I don't know. Since then I have not been able to stand the name at all.The poets have been mysteriously silent on the subject of cheese. I so can imagine an old Dennis, not a young one. I imagine the residents are old at a nursing home or something, I dunno.

I work at a long-term care (LTC) facility. Many of our residents are elderly, a few are not.The term nursing home isn't really used anymore.

That's interesting. It is used here in Canada.

Here the term is considered insulting and infantilizing. People still use it, but within the LTC industry care center or long-term care facility is the correct term. I'm 90% my in-laws and parents tell people I work in a nursing home, though.
