[Opinions] What are your favorite (and least favorite) masculine names on girls?
I've noticed that recently it is a trend to give baby girls names that are historically more masculine. Names like Logan or Sawyer on a girl are slowly creeping up into popularity, for example. I'm curious- What are your favorite and least favorite examples of this?My favorite masculine name for a girl is Jasper. I think it's a very strong name that is able to suit anyone well regardless of gender. I'm also just generally a fan of gemstone names, so I'm a sucker for this one as well. Especially considering that a lot of gem names all sound very dainty (Amethyst, Diamond, Ruby, etc.) so having a strong name like Jasper in the mix definitely shakes things up.My least favorite is Hunter, hands down. It's a name that I think is ugly even if it's on a boy. Also, a female hunter is a huntress! So why would you knowingly name a girl Hunter? It's a name that has the connotation of being a man literally baked into it. So it just doesn't make sense. Not to mention that as a huge animal lover I hate any sort of connotation with hunting anyways.

Pretty much all of them are my 'least favorite.' With all the thousands of feminine names out there of so many styles and origins it makes no good sense to wander from such fertile fields just to dig up some random masculine name to saddle a girl with, can't think of a good enough reason. After much thought the only masculine origin name I can think of that is even sort of tolerable for a girl is Bailey. Girls I actually know called Quincy, Sawyer, and Kevin - yes, really - make me cringe inside.
I like Gray and Quincy
I knew a girl named Bryce and I thought that was cool
Nolan might be cute for a girl and I don't mind Dylan or Kellen/Kellan (I think the 'L' makes the sound "soft" enough in my mind)A coworker has a daughter named Atticus "Atty" which is NOT my style lol
Atticus! Man, that name gives me so much early 2000s nostalgia. I remember when that was THE cool name for cool babies. And then it just disappeared, despite becoming more popular! Nobody ever talks about Atticus anymore. It's eerie, honestly.Never thought about it for a girl before...
likes for girls- Elliott and Sawyer (although i usually prefer girl's names on girls)dislikes for girls: Carter, Parker, Emerson, Jackson, Finley

Using people I know exist:Favourites: Elliott, Logan, DylanLeast favourites: James, Elisha, Bruce
I quite like Julian on girls because of Julian of Norwich.
I completely forgot about Julian! I like it too.
I prefer feminine names on girls and hate most masculine names on girls, but I love Quinn and Rowan on both sexes.
Ezra (I feel like this is my most heretical opinion)Elijah (funny story about this one - I never thought of the name as gender neutral until I started seeing it pop up as a female name in some old city archives from the 1880s. Usually spelled "Elija" though)Denver
Theo
Rudy
Isidore (this might be my fave, it's like a more sensible Isidora)
Jack
MikeLeast favourite: James, probably. It's so boring.
Ezra has seemed feminine to me for awhile, because of the soft sound and because it’s similar to Asra, Isra and reminds me of Esme.
Elija is a pretty cool discovery - a quirkier Eliza in a way, so I can totally see it.
Favorites: Hunter & Kai
Least Favorites: Logan, Jasper, Dean, Theo & James
This is tough - there are a lot of them that I really dislike.
I like River, if that counts. On either, though.
I think these are not awful, although not my style: Royal, Marlowe, Dallas, Salem.
I don't like Clementine at all, but I think Clement could be cool as a gal name.
I'd be far more enthusiastic about Theo on a gal, than on a guy. Most of the "masculine names on girls" that I like are not currently in fashion, so I'm leaving that out.Jasper seems okay. Jasmine and Jaden make it seem more legit, plus the mineral thing. I prefer Jasper for a boy, though.
I don't care for Logan or Sawyer, not even for boys. But they don't seem feminine enough for a gal, to me. Esp. Logan.
I don't think Diamond is dainty. I think it makes a good name for a guy or a girl. Diamonds are not only sparkly gems.
I think Hunter works on either sex. The -ess ending is would be fanciful, especially considering it's a surname name and not meant literally to mean hunter. Women who actually hunt in real life don't generally call themselves, or get called, "huntresses." They're hunters. I've only seen animals and fictional / mythological characters called huntresses. I can understand why people don't like it on girls, but I just don't think it's bad at all. I'd rather be a gal Hunter than a gal Archer or Fletcher, by far. Or Palmer, or Parker, or Carter ... there are so many worse occupational surnames.
